Oyo Governor Makinde Opens Bilateral Talks With European Union On Agriculture


The Oyo State Government has expanded its international resource mobilization parameters following bilateral talks led by Governor Seyi Makinde with the European Union delegation in Ibadan. Headed by the Ambassador to Nigeria, Gautier Mignot, the specialized session focused on aligning subnational economic development goals with external developmental capital paths.

The strategic cooperation focuses on implementing Climate Smart Agriculture frameworks under the EU Global Gateway Investment Strategy, targeting value chain upgrades inside the cocoa and dairy production sectors. The layout also coordinates joint capital financing models for education, social protection safety nets, and institutional campaigns against gender-based violence.

Governor Makinde stated that building global investment connections is critical for expanding agrarian processing capacity. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has been directed to draft technical frameworks to domesticate the joint resolutions, ensuring local smallholder cooperatives can integrate directly into secure international trade corridors uniformly.
