Akwa Ibom Executive Council Approves Transport Assets And Energy Grid Reforms

The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved an extensive portfolio of governance and service delivery interventions following a comprehensive Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Umo Eno in Uyo. The statutory approvals ratify key logistics operations relating to the physical delivery of compressed natural gas buses currently berthed at the Lagos Seaport. The public asset investment package also funds the construction of a modern passenger terminal at the mega transport station in Ikot Akpan.

The administrative directives also require the newly established Ministry of Aviation and Airport Development to submit a detailed operational work plan capturing clear milestones, budget proposals, and revenue projection matrices. To unbundle the subnational energy sector, the council authorized immediate funding flows to provide essential take-off facilities for the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, targeting a reliable power supply grid within an eighteen-month execution window.

The state executive council further reviewed the upcoming public unveiling of the Ibom Medical City project, which integrates a specialized 350-bed international hospital facility. Additionally, the administration finalized tracking parameters for the fourth phase of the free food distribution initiative, which is statutorily mandated to clear food backlogs for vulnerable persons across all thirty-one local government areas via the state social register channels.
