AKUNGBA-AKOKO, Nigeria, June 26, 2026 - The Ondo State Government has formalized a major higher education leadership transition following the executive approval of Professor Tomola Marshal Obamuyi as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University. Announced by Chief Press Secretary Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the academic appointment complies with statutory recommendations issued by the university's Governing Council under chaired guidelines.

The financial scholar replaces the outgoing institutional head, Professor Olugbenga Ige, after emerging first among fifteen decorated contenders interviewed by the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board. Professor Obamuyi brings extensive public sector management credentials to the office, having previously served as the pioneer substantive Dean of the School of Management Technology at the Federal University of Technology, Akure.
