๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ‘ถ Lagos State Government Partners With UNICEF And South Korea For PIRI Health Drive

YABA, Nigeria, June 26, 2026 - The Lagos State Government has accelerated its community health protection and disease eradication metrics following the formal launch of the Periodic Intensification of Routine Immunisation (PIRI) project. Executed in collaboration with UNICEF and the Republic of Korea, the subnational healthcare deployment is structured to ensure comprehensive vaccination coverage across all localized communities.

The multi-phase clinical operation specifically targets infant demographics aged zero to nine years, introducing critical routine vaccines and customized catch-up treatments to eliminate zero-dose clusters. Medical Services Director Dr. Oludolapo Sotunde confirmed that the specialized PIRI rounds will activate bi-monthly across June, August, and October, with each field round running for four consecutive days starting every second Saturday.

The Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board has reinforced cold-chain logistics and deployed mobile distribution crews to navigate hard-to-reach riverine and peri-urban sectors. Backed by South Korean capacity-building funds, the ministry has mandated community health mobilizers to partner with local traditional structures, permanently reversing vaccine hesitancy metrics state-wide.
