Governor Mutfwang Partners With Chinese Embassy On 500 Hectare Special Agro Zone

The Plateau State Government has advanced its international trade and economic diversification portfolios following high-level bilateral discussions hosted by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, in Jos. The strategic session focused on capturing foreign direct investment across the agricultural, infrastructure, and mining sectors.

The centerpiece of the geoeconomic framework outlines the deployment of a proposed 500-hectare Special Agro-Processing Zone situated near the Yakubu Gowon International Cargo Airport. The industrial reserve is engineered to drive immediate technology transfer, scale up mechanical value addition for local agricultural yields, and create thousands of downstream processing jobs for citizens.

Governor Mutfwang stated that leveraging China's active zero-tariff policy on Nigerian exports is an absolute prerequisite for positioning the state as a competitive trade destination. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has been directed to coordinate with Chinese investment syndicates, ensuring the upcoming export processing grids comply with sustainable environmental safety codes state-wide.
