Governor Eno Completes Inherited 4.8 Kilometer Eket Urban Highway Infrastructure

UYO, Nigeria, June 25, 2026 - The Akwa Ibom State Government has advanced its urban renewal master plan following the formal commissioning of 4.8 kilometers of completed road networks within Eket Local Government Area. Executed by Governor Umo Eno, the transport layout features the strategic Ikot Akpa Ikpo–Urua Udo Inyang Road alongside the comprehensive internal connectivity grid servicing Phases I and II of the Mkpok Estate.

The infrastructure project represents a critical inherited asset that was prioritized and completed to reverse historical distribution bottlenecks. During the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, Governor Eno announced the immediate approval of an additional 12 kilometers of arterial lanes for the Eket corridor, effectively scaling the administration's active road portfolio in the zone to nearly 50 kilometers.

The administration noted that building high-fidelity asphalt links is an absolute prerequisite for stimulating subnational retail commerce and improving commuter transit margins. The Ministry of Works and Fire Service has intensified engineering tracking on the adjacent Afaha Atai and Iseyiridua road projects, ensuring uniform alignment with strict structural pavement guidelines state-wide.
