Governor Zulum Creates Ministry Of Planning And Economic Development In Borno

The Borno State Government has modified its top-tier administrative architecture following the formal assignment of portfolios to nine newly sworn-in commissioners by Governor Babagana Zulum. The structural cabinet reorganization follows successful screening and confirmation sequences by the Borno State House of Assembly, with all appointed officials directed to assume duties across ministries immediately.

A core component of the administrative reform is the formal creation of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, which will be managed by Hon. Maina Yaumi. The specialized ministry is statutorily tasked with anchoring macro-financial planning matrices, streamlining post-conflict community rehabilitation models, and managing counterpart development funds to stimulate sustainable growth loops.

Governor Zulum urged the cabinet to collaborate with the permanent secretaries and enforce strict fiscal transparency across lines. The statement, issued by Secretary to the State Government Bukar Tijani, emphasized that optimization of service delivery remains a critical prerequisite for distributing the dividends of democracy as the administration enters the final phase of its governance tenure.
