The Katsina State Executive Council has approved an extensive portfolio of human capital and economic infrastructure interventions following its 9th Regular Meeting for 2026 at the Government House. Presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, the approvals target modernizing traditional learning spaces, stabilizing rural micro-retail grids, and introducing forward-looking public financial management reforms.
The approved capital operations encompass the installation of 30 independent solar-powered lights across Tsangaya schools in each of the state's 361 political wards to improve evening instructional conditions and student safety metrics. Parallel contracts were awarded to fabricate 2,000 lockable, galvanized steel modular kiosks under the Road Corridor Enterprise scheme to replace makeshift commercial structures.
The council, through briefs from Special Adviser Dr. Hafiz Ahmed, also institutionalized mandatory Climate Change Budget Tagging across all ministries, departments, and agencies. The fiscal policy reform is designed to optimize transparency, safeguard agricultural productivity metrics against dryland degradation, and properly position the state to capture international green financing arrays.
