Governor Mutfwang Launches Ultra-Modern Abattoir Construction To Boost Meat Export

The Plateau State Government has launched an extensive agro-industrial revitalization project following the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 500-cattle-per-day ultra-modern abattoir at Heipang. Executed by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the specialized engineering project forms a key structural component of the newly established Heipang Special Agro-Processing Zone layout.

The high-capacity automated facility is co-financed under the institutional frameworks of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Programme. The project layout incorporates the construction of a complementary Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, which is engineered to replace primitive slaughter practices with global sanitary food codes.

Governor Mutfwang stated that transitioning away from raw commodity export is an absolute prerequisite for expanding subnational wealth reserves. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has been directed to coordinate feed-mill extensions, ensuring that smallholder cooperatives producing animal feed inputs are integrated directly into the export processing value chain.
