Lagos State Government Partners Kaoun International to Expand GITEX Technology Investments

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has met with Ms. Trixie LohMirmand, Chief Executive Officer of Kaoun International, the organizers of the GITEX global technology exhibition, at the Lagos House in Marina. The high-level bilateral meeting focused on strengthening their technology partnership to position Lagos as Africa's leading technology and innovation hub, attracting venture capital, and supporting local digital startups.

Relying on traditional commercial sectors without building a resilient digital economy limits job creation for the state’s large youth population and restricts foreign direct investment. Partnering with global technology organizers provides local developers and tech startups with direct access to global capital, international mentoring, and advanced digital markets, accelerating the state’s transition to a knowledge-driven economy.

This technology collaboration aligns with the state’s strategic development agenda to leverage private-sector partnerships to grow its digital ecosystem. By creating a supportive environment for technology investments, the government increases the contribution of the tech sector to its internally generated revenue (IGR) and strengthens its position as Africa's premier innovation hub.
