Jigawa State Government Partners Northwest Regional Social Insurance Committee

Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi has received the Northwest Implementation Committee for the Social Insurance Programme (SIP) during a high-level consultation at the Government House in Dutse. Led by the Committee Chairman, Professor Mudassir Nasiru, the regional delegation discussed aligning subnational social safety nets, integrating medical insurance schemes, and expanding pension coverage for workers across the public and informal sectors.

Fragmented, uncoordinated welfare programs often lead to duplicate listings, waste public funds, and leave vulnerable informal-sector workers without health cover or retirement security. Building a unified Northwest social insurance framework helps the state combine its social registers, lower administrative overheads, and deliver reliable pension and clinical benefits to low-income earners.

This regional partnership highlights a structured, policy-driven approach to human capital development, poverty alleviation, and social security tracking. By aligning local welfare schemes with regional standards, the administration improves public finance transparency and strengthens its safety nets for vulnerable citizens.
