The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), led by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has officially flagged off the construction of a new 7-kilometer access road linking Tungan Madaki to the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway through Zuba. Represented at the groundbreaking ceremony by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, the administration directed the primary contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), to fast-track engineering works to ensure the road is completed and commissioned by December 2026.
A lack of direct, asphalt-paved arterial roads often cuts off agricultural satellite towns from the city center during the rainy season, causing high post-harvest losses for local farmers and delaying security responses. Extending the road network from Bill Clinton Drive to the Abuja-Kaduna Highway bypasses Gwagwalada, giving commuters from Zuba direct access to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, which lowers transportation costs and opens up a new investment corridor for housing, healthcare facilities, and local industries.
This massive road construction project highlights a systematic approach to infrastructure planning, urban decongestion, and economic corridor tracking within the FCT. By expanding high-quality road networks into agricultural and suburban areas in response to community and local council requests, the administration improves rural productivity and demonstrates strict compliance with the federal capital's master development plan.
