The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved a wide-ranging set of capital infrastructure developments and policy approvals during its fifth executive meeting of 2026 at the New Governor's Office in Ado-Ekiti. Presided over by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the cabinet approved ₦14.31 billion for strategic road construction, ₦2.063 billion to upgrade rural roads under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), ₦381.65 million for solar streetlights, ₦337.66 million for electricity grid expansions, and ₦74.96 million to develop the state's Water and Sanitation Regulatory Data Management System (EK-WASREDAMS).
Degraded transportation networks and unreliable power grids isolate rural farming communities, drive up transportation costs, and limit the growth of local businesses. Investing in targeted road upgrades, expanding clean municipal water tracking systems, and approving the 2025 Business Enabling Reform Action Plan (BERAP) report under the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) program helps the state lower utility costs, improve agricultural distribution, and attract private industrial investments.
These multi-sector capital approvals demonstrate a highly disciplined approach to public finance management, urban modernization, and policy implementation. By combining hard infrastructure investments with digital data management tools and ease-of-doing-business reforms, the administration improves municipal service delivery and builds institutional capacity to sustain long-term economic growth.
