Benue State Government Outlines Multi-Sectoral Infrastructure and Industrial Revival Milestones

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, presented a comprehensive performance tracker detailing the impact of sub-national policy implementation during an executive briefing with the Presidential State House Press Corps on Thursday. The Governor outlined the delivery of over 550 kilometres of urban and rural roadways, alongside the active construction of the state's first structural underpasses and flyover bridges in Makurdi and Gboko. On economic development, the administration confirmed the full operational take-off of the Food Basket Breweries and the ongoing revival of long-abandoned state assets, including the Taraku Mills and the Bensono Juice and Concentrate Factory.

The extensive progress report highlights a major shift in public resource management directed by the State Executive Council to drive industrialization and human capital development. By implementing a new ₦75,000 minimum wage and systematically clearing inherited pension and gratuity arrears, the administration stabilizes civil service productivity. In the education and security sectors, the concurrent deployment of 422 reconstructed basic education facilities, 120 patrol vehicles, and 620 motorcycles across the 23 Local Government Areas improves public service delivery while securing rural agricultural communities from banditry.

The successful execution of these diverse infrastructure and wage reforms reflects strong fiscal discipline and institutional capacity within the Benue State public administration. By transforming statutory allocations into productive agro-industrial projects and durable transport assets, the state government establishes a reliable foundation for private sector investment. This integrated governance approach enhances sub-national economic independence, lowers youth unemployment through industrial manufacturing revival, and builds long-term public trust in administrative performance.
