Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, presided over the graduation ceremony of 570 young creative professionals on Tuesday. The event, marking the formal completion of the Eko Studio Culture Programme, was held at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium in Alausa under the theme “Creating Wealth, Elevating Lagos Creatives.” The specialized talent development initiative was managed by the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment to provide youth from the five administrative divisions of the state with structured media, music, and corporate skills.
The human capital project serves to convert creative raw talent into structured, tax-yielding commercial businesses to diversify the sub-national economy. According to data provided by the Ministry, the Lagos entertainment sector generated an estimated $10.8 billion between 2024 and 2025, prompting the government to link these 570 graduates directly with the state's newly unveiled ₦10 billion Cooperative Fund. By combining classroom instruction with finance and business management mentorship, the program equips young citizens to establish self-reliant brands rather than depending on civil service employment.
This large-scale graduation highlights the state executive’s strategic integration of educational bootcamps with formal credit intervention schemes under the THEMES+ development agenda. By providing structured access to single-digit interest loans for creative start-ups, the administration builds grass-roots institutional capacity and drives youth employment. This approach deepens the structural alignment between creative talent and digital commercial markets, reducing poverty indicators and securing long-term economic growth across the state.
