The Niger State Government has reinforced security operations across the state with the inauguration of twelve Hilux operational vehicles for the Nigeria Police Force. Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago officially commissioned the vehicles during a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters in Minna, describing the intervention as part of his administration's continuing support for security agencies combating criminal activities within the state.
Speaking at the event, Governor Bago stated that the vehicles form part of the government's routine logistics support aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and improving the morale of security personnel. He commended the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their ongoing commitment to addressing insecurity and reaffirmed his administration's resolve to continue providing the resources required to strengthen public safety across Niger State.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, the Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, expressed appreciation to the state government for its sustained support to security agencies. He observed that the donation was part of a broader pattern of assistance previously extended by the Governor and assured that the newly commissioned vehicles would be deployed for operational policing and crime prevention activities throughout the state.
The Commissioner of Police also disclosed that the Niger State Police Command has established a Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) comprising 218 specially trained personnel to address serious criminal offences, including banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape and other violent crimes. According to him, the specialised training received by the unit is expected to strengthen operational capacity and contribute to reducing criminal activity across the state.
The inauguration therefore combined the deployment of additional operational logistics with updates on institutional measures being implemented by the Police Command to improve security operations and enhance law enforcement capabilities in Niger State.
