The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has intensified enforcement operations against illegal parking as part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic management, promote orderly parking practices and maintain unobstructed movement across the state's road network. The enforcement initiative forms part of the Authority's broader strategy to strengthen compliance with parking regulations and improve the efficiency of urban transportation systems.
According to the General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, the Authority's Monitoring and Enforcement Team recently carried out enforcement operations along Akintoye Road near Ajeromi General Hospital in Apapa. The exercise targeted vehicles parked within designated "No Parking Zones" following earlier public enlightenment campaigns and the installation of regulatory road signs along the corridor.
The General Manager explained that the operation was conducted peacefully and in accordance with established enforcement procedures. Vehicles found violating parking regulations were attended to through appropriate enforcement measures, including towing where necessary, while efforts were made to ensure that public order was maintained throughout the exercise.
During the operation, the Authority also discovered that one of its official "No Parking" signs had been removed from the corridor. Mrs. Adelabu condemned the theft or vandalism of public infrastructure and warned that individuals responsible for damaging government assets would face legal consequences when apprehended.
The Authority concluded the exercise by urging motorists to comply with parking regulations, observe traffic signs, make use of designated parking facilities and cooperate with LASPA enforcement personnel in promoting safer and more orderly road use across Lagos State.
