The Jigawa State Executive Council adopted a broad package of executive decisions during its meeting of 27 July 2026, approving initiatives aimed at strengthening transportation, agriculture, education, public utilities, traditional institutions, security coordination and participatory governance.
Among the major decisions, the Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rano Air to commence scheduled Dutse-Abuja-Dutse commercial flight operations in order to improve air connectivity, stimulate investment, promote tourism and maximise the utilisation of Dutse International Airport.
To strengthen public safety and conflict prevention, the Council established a high-level Transit Herders Registration Committee to develop a framework for registering transit pastoralists, improving livestock management, promoting peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders, and enhancing security and public health administration.
The Council also approved a ₦2.77 billion contract for the construction of a new Emir's Palace in Dutse, endorsed Jigawa's hosting of the 41st National Qur'anic Recitation Competition scheduled for 14-30 November 2026, and approved postgraduate sponsorship for 92 lecturers from state-owned tertiary institutions to undertake Master's and PhD programmes at Integral University, India, subject to a five-year post-study service obligation.
Additional approvals included ₦285 million for new generators to improve water supply infrastructure in Birnin Kudu, Hadejia and Kazaure; ₦1.77 billion for solar-powered de-flooding and mobile irrigation equipment to strengthen irrigation farming and flood mitigation; ₦2.40 billion for organic fertilisers and crop growth enhancers to support climate-smart agriculture during the 2026 farming season; and ₦1.16 billion for infrastructure development at Government Science and Technical College, Auyo.
The Executive Council further adopted a Citizens' Engagement Roadmap to implement recommendations arising from the 2025 Gwamnati da Jama'a Programme, including the establishment of community engagement desks across all 27 Local Government Areas, quarterly town hall meetings, a digital citizen feedback platform and regular government performance reporting to strengthen transparency and public participation.
The Executive Council resolutions demonstrate a comprehensive executive-government approach that combines infrastructure development, institutional strengthening, human capital investment, agricultural productivity and governance reform within a coordinated policy framework. Rather than focusing on a single sector, the approvals indicate an integrated development agenda addressing multiple strategic priorities simultaneously.
