The Plateau State Peace Building Agency (PPBA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaborative peacebuilding initiatives following an engagement with the Plateau State Youth Council at the Agency's headquarters. During the meeting, Director General Dr. Julie Sanda stated that the Agency will continue to pursue its non-partisan mandate through inclusive partnerships aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and preventing conflict across the state.
The Director General explained that the Agency's operations are implemented through specialised units covering peace education, interfaith engagement, dialogue and mediation, post-conflict rehabilitation, strategic communication and partnership coordination. She further disclosed that the Agency maintains peace desk officers across all 17 Local Government Areas, where regular engagement supports conflict prevention, community dialogue and local peacebuilding activities.
Dr. Sanda stated that the Agency continues to collaborate with security agencies, ministries, departments and agencies, civil society organisations and development partners in advancing the state's non-kinetic approach to addressing security challenges. She also encouraged stronger youth participation in peacebuilding through existing initiatives such as the Generation Peace Programme, while advocating the development of a comprehensive youth skills database and a long-term youth development agenda for Plateau State.
The meeting concluded with both organisations expressing their commitment to strengthening collaboration on peacebuilding, youth engagement and community development across the state.
