The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, hosted the South-West Pre-Council Technical Zonal Policy Sensitisation Workshop at the Cordis Hotel in Ikeja. The regional administrative workshop, opened by the State Commissioner, Hon. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, brought together commissioners and directors from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti States. The inter-state technical committee convened to harmonize policy priority inputs and evaluate state memoranda ahead of the 26th National Council on Women Affairs and Social Development.
The technical workshop serves as a key sub-national platform to align regional social protection programs with the Federal Government's thematic priorities and the Renewed Hope Initiative. Facilitated by the National Council Desk Officer, the delegates reviewed draft state memoranda focusing on skill acquisition, poverty alleviation, family strengthening networks, and formal support structures for survivors of Gender-Based Violence. This cross-border coordination allows the participating states to pool data and co-engineer targeted frameworks to protect vulnerable groups, children, and Persons Living with Disabilities.
This regional technical alignment underscores the state executive's commitment to cooperative federalism and evidence-based social planning. By hosting and steering the South-West policy harmonization process, the Lagos State Government improves inter-ministerial communication and boosts policy execution indices across the geopolitical zone.
