The Lagos State Government has deployed additional traffic officers to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway following severe congestion linked to a fallen truck and ongoing rehabilitation work around Kara Bridge.
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa, said the fallen truck had been evacuated by LASTMA but that congestion had been worsened by some motorists driving against traffic.
More traffic officers have been deployed along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway axis to support traffic management. The Lagos government is also working with the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands, TRACE and LASTMA to improve movement.
The state said ongoing rehabilitation work at Kara Bridge may temporarily affect traffic but is intended to preserve the infrastructure and support the long-term safety and functionality of the corridor. Officials said the rehabilitation is expected to be completed soon.
LASTMA General Manager Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki urged motorists to remain patient and avoid driving against traffic when obstructions occur. He also advised road users to consider alternative routes, including Ikorodu Garage–Ogijo–Sagamu through Lotto, the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway and the Ikorodu–Ijebu-Ode route.
The Lagos State Government has urged motorists to plan journeys, follow directions from accredited traffic personnel and use the 3367 line for traffic-related reports while agencies continue efforts to ease pressure around the Kara Bridge corridor.
