The Lagos State government publication reported that work is progressing on a 26-megawatt embedded power project designed to provide dedicated and reliable electricity to the Iju-Akute Waterworks.

As part of preparations for implementation, stakeholders inspected power-generating equipment supplied by Jubaili Bros Nigeria for the Akute Independent Power Project, which is being developed by Agrigate Utilities Limited.

The inspection was undertaken to assess and verify the equipment before its delivery and deployment for the first phase. That phase is expected to generate 9MW, while subsequent phases are planned to raise total project capacity to 26MW.

Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources Biodun Ogunleye stressed the importance of accountability, adherence to specifications and agreed timelines, while Agrigate Utilities reaffirmed its commitment to delivery and technical support. Representatives of Jubaili Bros Nigeria also confirmed their commitment to supplying the required equipment and services.

The project is intended to give the Iju-Akute Waterworks a dedicated electricity supply and thereby support the reliability and sustainability of an essential water-service facility. Arrangements for delivery, installation and deployment of the first-phase equipment are being advanced.
