Katsina Governor Dikko Radda has presented the Northwest Peace, Security and Development Framework on behalf of the seven Northwest governors during engagements around the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Radda said the framework represents a collective approach by the seven Northwest states to shared security, economic and development challenges across the region.
The governor linked security measures with opportunities, stabilisation with development and public investment with responsible private capital, while identifying agriculture, livestock, trade, natural resources and human capital as areas of regional potential.
He said the framework seeks to create jobs and stronger livelihoods for young people, women, farmers, entrepreneurs and communities affected by insecurity.
Radda acknowledged support from the United Nations, development institutions, financial partners and the private sector and said the seven states had taken ownership of the framework.
He said the participating states intended to strengthen institutions, improve coordination and accountability, and move from planning toward implementation, with community safety, livelihoods, opportunities for children and the return of displaced families identified as measures of progress.
