Katsina State plans to upgrade its Agripreneurship Training Centre in Dutsin-Ma and expand participation to more than 1,000 young people under a proposed 2027 budget intervention.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda disclosed the proposed expansion during a September 30, 2026 visit to the Agripreneurship Training Centre in Dutsin-Ma, where he assessed ongoing training activities and the needs of the facility.
The governor said the 2027 budget would provide for upgrading the centre and increasing enrolment from one trainee per ward to three trainees per ward. Across the state's 361 wards, this would amount to more than 1,000 trainees.
Radda said the purpose of the programme was to develop independent agripreneurs who could establish enterprises and create employment rather than remain focused solely on seeking jobs. He also assured trainees that the state government would provide support to enable them to establish themselves.
Commissioner for Agriculture Lawal Zakari Shargelle urged beneficiaries to acquire skills with dedication and return to their communities to train others and create jobs. He said selected participants were expected to contribute to development at the grassroots.
The proposed expansion therefore links the Dutsin-Ma training centre to a wider youth-focused agricultural skills programme. The upgrade and expanded enrolment are budget-linked plans identified by the governor during the visit.
