Executive Chairman Robert Akande Olumole received a delegation of the Edo State Ecological Funds Management Commission at the council secretariat in Igarra and pledged his administration's commitment to collaboration in addressing gully erosion.

During a tour of government facilities affected by flooding, the council chairman highlighted the dilapidated condition of the Primary Healthcare Centre in Enwan II and promised immediate intervention as part of activities marking his administration's first 100 days in office.

EECOFUND Chairman Amb. Terry Igiebor said the commission's visit was intended to identify gully sites and assess flood-related challenges in Akoko-Edo. He said the delegation was in the area at the instance of the Edo State Governor.

Igiebor also urged residents to manage waste properly and stressed the importance of regular drainage desilting. He said the state government was willing to deploy ecological funds for the identified environmental challenges.

The assessment included River Onyiami in Enwan, Enwan Mixed Secondary School Bridge, Araromi Oke and gully sites in Ososo, among other locations. The exercise provides the immediate basis described by the source for further environmental intervention and coordination.
