The Zamfara government publication said the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Nasiru Galadima Kaura, led an inspection team to assess construction progress at the facility.

The centre, supported by IOM, is being established to provide a safe and supportive environment for rehabilitation, recovery and reintegration of survivors of gender-based violence and other vulnerable or traumatised persons.

The facility is also expected to strengthen the ministry's capacity to provide psychosocial support, rehabilitation and related services to women, children and other vulnerable groups.

During the inspection, the supervision team reviewed the level of construction. The Permanent Secretary stressed the importance of quality work, adherence to contractual requirements and timely completion.

The project forms part of a partnership-based approach to vulnerable-person support in Zamfara. The ministry said it would continue working with development partners to strengthen protection, welfare and recovery services.
