The Lagos State Government, through the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, commenced the 2026 Mother, Infant and Child Development Programme across the six Health Districts of the state.

The Health District I edition was held at the Taofeek Adaranijo Event Centre along Ipaja Road in Abekoko, beside the Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area Secretariat.

The programme was described by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement as an initiative focused on maternal and child wellbeing, nutritional support and awareness of available healthcare services.

The programme provides for the distribution of 5,000 nutritional food packs to pregnant women across the six Health Districts, compared with more than 2,000 pregnant women reported to have benefited across the districts in 2025.

The Health District I event also included healthcare and social-support activities such as routine immunisation, family planning, Vitamin A supplementation, malnutrition screening, birth registration, maternal healthcare, HIV screening and tuberculosis screening and treatment.
