An Edo State government publication reported that Governor Monday Okpebholo inspected the proposed 83 Division site at Teboga in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area and reviewed progress on preparatory works.

The publication said the site had been cleared, fencing was the next major activity and temporary accommodation was ready, while environmental sanitation and rehabilitation of existing structures were also underway.

During the inspection, Governor Okpebholo said the state was preparing for the division and that facilities required for military occupation were being worked on, while contractors were expected to deploy additional bulldozers to accelerate construction.

Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, Commander of 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, said the inspection was a follow-up to assess progress and that work was progressing steadily toward operationalisation, with additional amenities and facilities being incorporated.

The publication reported that the operationalisation timeline runs through December 2026, while the 83 Division is to have its headquarters in Benin City and cover Edo, Delta and Bayelsa States when activated.
