The Cross River State Government has reopened General Hospital, Obudu, restoring public healthcare services to residents of Obudu and surrounding communities.
The facility was formally reopened and put into use at the weekend, with Governor Bassey Edet Otu represented at the event by the Commissioner for Health, Henry Egbe Ayuk.
The reopening followed the revival of the hospital and the constitution of a new management team headed by Bob Abua as Hospital Administrator.
Ayuk urged residents to patronise the facility and said additional healthcare personnel would be deployed as needed, while the Ministry of Health would monitor staffing, functionality and service delivery.
The Secretary of Obudu Local Government Council, Aben Emmanuel, who represented the council chairman, welcomed the reopening and commended the administration and hospital management for restoring the facility.
The reopened hospital is intended to bring public healthcare services closer to residents of Obudu and neighbouring communities while forming part of the state's efforts to revitalise public healthcare facilities.
