IPAC said the issue required attention from Cross River's elected representatives in the National Assembly and urged them to engage through constitutional and institutional processes.

The council's position followed renewed discussions surrounding disputed oil wells, resource ownership, representation and revenue interests involving Cross River.

IPAC referred to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission's decision to discard an earlier draft verification report and the subsequent establishment of a reconstituted Inter-Agency Technical Committee to undertake fresh verification of wells drilled from 2017 to date.

The council called for what it described as responsible representation and urged public officials to exercise caution in statements concerning sensitive territorial and economic matters.

IPAC said stakeholders should pursue the matter through lawful and peaceful channels while the federal verification process continues.
