Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed concern over recent flooding in parts of the state and directed the Special Task Force on Environmental Sanitation to visit affected areas.

The Osun State government publication said the task force is expected to assess environmental conditions contributing to the flooding and prepare a response plan for the administration.

The governor said excessive rainfall in recent weeks had placed additional pressure on drainage channels and waterways, affecting homes, businesses and livelihoods in affected areas.

Adeleke recalled that the administration had undertaken initial dredging and drainage interventions to improve water flow and reduce flooding. He also urged residents to avoid dumping refuse on waterways and building on natural water channels and flood-prone corridors.

The governor directed residents to report blocked drainage, flooding incidents and other environmental hazards to the appropriate authorities, while assuring affected communities that further responses would be considered.
