Osun State's October 2 reporting featured an Independence Day address reviewing education, healthcare, infrastructure and agriculture programmes, alongside an emphasis on youth opportunities and continued public-sector development.
In an Osun State government publication, Governor Ademola Adeleke used the state's 66th Independence Anniversary programme to review development activities and describe a people-centred agenda covering education, health, infrastructure and agriculture.
On education, the governor reported continued improvement of schools and learning facilities, alongside the recruitment of teachers. He also cited Osun's reported fifth-place position nationally in the 2026 NECO Senior School Certificate Examination, compared with seventh place in the 2025 ranking, and highlighted the state's 2026 essay competition.
The governor said healthcare interventions had continued through strengthened primary healthcare delivery, attention to facilities, expanded health insurance coverage and medical interventions. He also identified roads, bridges, public facilities, water systems and transportation networks as areas receiving infrastructure attention.
Agricultural measures highlighted in the address included support for farmers through improved inputs, access to mechanisation and market opportunities. The governor acknowledged that challenges remained and presented the reported interventions as part of an ongoing development programme.
The address also stressed the importance of young people, peace and social cohesion in the state's development. The governor called for peaceful resolution of differences and said the administration would continue to pursue programmes intended to improve living conditions and expand opportunities across Osun.
