Governor Aiyedatiwa received the recognition at the World Teachers' Day commemoration held at Eagle Square, Abuja. In his acceptance speech, he thanked the Federal Ministry of Education, the Minister of Education, the Minister of State for Education and other stakeholders involved in the event.

The Governor dedicated the recognition to teachers across Ondo State and said his previous experience as a teacher had influenced his understanding of the responsibilities associated with education. He described education as a long-term investment in the character, capacity and productive strength of the state's population.

Aiyedatiwa outlined several education interventions reported by his administration. These include the recruitment of more than 2,100 teachers into primary and secondary schools in 2025, construction of 43 classroom blocks at a reported cost of about ₦3.1 billion, complete renovation of 75 schools, and procurement of 8,500 learners' furniture and 1,200 teachers' furniture.

He also reported ₦633.9 million in 2026 funding for WAEC registration for 23,048 public-school students, full sponsorship of NABTEB examinations, bursary and scholarship commitments, and the establishment of a College of Nursing at Igbokoda and a College of Education at Aboto. Other measures cited included teacher training, digital education initiatives and technology-related programmes.

Federal education officials used the occasion to emphasise teacher welfare, professional development, technology and the changing demands placed on educators. The National Union of Teachers also called for a shift from recognition to sustained implementation and investment. Aiyedatiwa said the award belonged to teachers whose work he described as foundational to the state's development.
