The Lagos State Government has extended stakeholder sensitisation on its Electronic Physical Planning Processing System as part of efforts to drive adoption of a digital system for planning and building approval processes across the state.
The engagement was held at the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria Island as part of ongoing zonal sensitisation on the Electronic Physical Planning Processing System. The system is being presented as an electronic approach to planning and building approval processes.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development Dr. Oluyinka Olumide said the project was designed to benefit both government and the public. He stated that users must meet specified requirements, including tax status, to access the system.
Permanent Secretary of the Office of Physical Planning Tpl. Wasiu Olayinka urged built-environment professionals and other stakeholders to embrace the platform. He said the system was intended to enhance transparency, accountability and productivity and described the initiative as a re-engineering of the physical planning approval process.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation and Revenue Opeyemi Ogunbo linked the digital planning initiative to wider reforms across Lagos and said the system was designed to support safe, orderly and sustainable development. Guest Lecturer Professor Timothy Nubi also stressed collaboration among professionals and relevant agencies as a requirement for successful digitisation.
The stakeholder engagement forms part of the state's ongoing zonal sensitisation programme for the Electronic Physical Planning Processing System. The immediate focus presented at the engagement was increased awareness and utilisation of the digital approval process among communities, professionals and other stakeholders.
