Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has commissioned a skills acquisition centre and a Hisbah office in Matazu, received 100 motorcycles provided through a federal constituency intervention and launched other community support initiatives. During the October 7, 2026 event, federal lawmaker Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed also announced plans to provide another 500 motorcycles and facilitate 560 employment opportunities for constituents across Matazu and Musawa.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda announced the interventions at the Matazu Local Government Secretariat, where he commissioned the Haj. Zulaihat Dikko Radda Skills Acquisition Centre and a Hisbah Division office. The event also featured the presentation of two mass transit vehicles and the delivery of 100 motorcycles provided by Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed, the member representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Ahmed, known as Dujima of Katsina, said the 100 motorcycles formed part of an earlier 500-motorcycle constituency programme. He announced plans for a further 500 motorcycles for beneficiaries across Matazu and Musawa, saying the intervention was intended to improve mobility and provide opportunities for livelihoods and grassroots economic activity.
The lawmaker also announced 560 employment opportunities for constituents and said efforts were underway to facilitate permanent and pensionable appointments for qualified beneficiaries. The announcement did not identify the employers, job categories, selection process or timetable for the appointments, so the opportunities should be treated as a stated commitment rather than confirmed placements.
Matazu Local Government Chairman Shamsuddeen Muhammad said the council had provided the Hisbah office, two motorcycles and two mass transit vehicles. He also listed cash empowerment for 500 women, 250 youths and 250 elders, as well as 30 smartphones for social media activists. Radda commended collaboration among the state government, local council and elected representatives, and urged beneficiaries to use the support productively.
The governor also acknowledged assistance from the Gwagware Foundation, associated with Katsina First Lady Zulaihat Dikko Radda, for caregivers of orphans and other vulnerable people. The event brought together state officials, local government representatives, traditional and religious leaders and other stakeholders. The reported commissioning and motorcycle delivery took place at the event, while the additional motorcycles and employment opportunities remained announced future interventions.
