Katsina State has commenced training for the third batch of 361 young agripreneurs under its Agripreneurship Training Programme at the training centre in Dutsin-Ma.
The training exercise was inaugurated as the third batch of the state's Agripreneurship Training Programme. Governor Dikko Umaru Radda also inspected activities at the centre and engaged with trainees on their needs and areas where additional government support may be required.
The programme is designed around practical agricultural skills, knowledge and entrepreneurship, with the stated objective of helping participants establish sustainable businesses and contribute to their communities.
Governor Radda directed that the 2027 budget should provide for upgrading the Agripreneurship Training Centre and expanding its capacity. The proposed expansion is intended to increase the number of participants enrolled in the programme.
The governor said enrolment would be increased from one trainee per ward to three trainees per ward. Based on the state's 361 wards, the stated expansion would provide capacity to train more than 1,000 young people under the programme.
The Katsina State government publication said the programme forms part of the administration's Building Your Future Agenda, with the current batch of 361 trainees undergoing the reported training while further expansion is planned through the 2027 budget.
