The new EFCC zonal directorate was commissioned in Awka to serve Anambra and Imo states. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was represented at the ceremony by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.

Governor Charles Soludo attended the event alongside Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and other leaders. The commissioning formed part of the establishment of an EFCC presence serving the two states.

Soludo used the occasion to recount a personal interaction with the EFCC following an investigation involving the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, where he had previously served as Chairman of the Board.

According to Soludo's account, he honoured the EFCC's invitation during the investigation and was subsequently informed in writing that the investigation had found nothing against him. He said a later review similarly produced written confirmation that there was no evidence against him.

Soludo described the experience as an example of the professionalism he associated with the institution and urged the EFCC to maintain that approach. The commissioning marked the opening of the new zonal directorate serving Anambra and Imo.
