Adamawa State Government visited two teaching hospitals during the October 1 Independence Day programme, supporting patients and celebrating newborns, with the state reporting 200 beneficiaries.
An Adamawa State government publication reported that the state government visited the Adamawa State University Teaching Hospital and Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital on October 1, 2026, as part of activities marking Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary.
The visit focused particularly on paediatric and maternity wards, where government representatives met patients and families and provided support. The programme also included recognition of babies born on Independence Day.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy Leader Leneke said the visit was intended to identify with patients and families and share in their experiences. The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Neido Geoffrey Kulfolto, also visited the maternity ward and expressed appreciation for the safe delivery of the babies.
The officer in charge of the maternity ward said six deliveries were expected during the day and that one baby had been delivered at the time of the visit. The publication reported that 200 patients benefited from the broader programme.
Other officials participating included the commissioners for Women Affairs, Land and Survey, Culture and Tourism, and Mineral Resources, as well as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy. The reported outreach concluded with beneficiaries expressing appreciation for the assistance.
