Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has held discussions with sports-industry investors in London over proposed investments that include a football manufacturing factory and a talent development academy.
The governor met investors led by Dr Bob Olukoya, Country Director of Alive and Kicking Nigeria Limited, and Mrs Joanne Macrae, a Director of Amos Sports Business School, London and Business Development Director of Alive and Kicking Nigeria Limited.
Adeleke outlined the state's investment policies and said the Osun Free Trade Zone was available to investors, while directing the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to treat the company's submission with urgency.
The investor team said it was interested in establishing a factory to produce footballs for markets in Nigeria, Africa and internationally.
The company also told the governor that its application for land at the Osun State Free Trade Zone had been processed and that preparations were underway for activity at the allocated site.
The investors further presented a proposed football talent academy for young Osun players and said a detailed proposal on the talent-development initiative would be submitted; the projects therefore remain proposals at this stage.
