Osun State has approved the establishment of a Joint Security Task Force following recent security alerts, with agencies placed on heightened readiness.
The decision was reached at a State Security Council meeting convened by Governor Ademola Adeleke and presided over by Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, with the new Commissioner of Police and other security commanders in attendance.
The state said it would provide logistics needed for the JTF to begin operations and strengthen protection of lives and property across Osun.
The council urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly around churches, mosques and schools, and requested timely sharing of intelligence with security agencies.
The Nigeria Police and other security agencies were directed to maintain a 24-hour red alert. The Ministry of Justice, Police and DSS also agreed to cooperate on investigation and prosecution of suspects.
The council's action is therefore focused on coordination, readiness and intelligence-sharing in response to recent alerts. The source does not identify a specific incident in Osun requiring the JTF's creation.
