Lagos State is engaging international and private-sector partners on coastal protection, infrastructure resilience and financing mechanisms intended to strengthen preparedness for climate-related risks.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said a roundtable was convened with the Lagos Office of SDGs, UN Global Compact Networks and partners from Africa and the Caribbean.
The discussion examined what could be done immediately to protect Lagos's coastlines and infrastructure while establishing appropriate financing arrangements before future major climate events.
Sanwo-Olu noted that flooding affects communities and places pressure on roads, homes and businesses in the coastal city.
He said the state was working directly with the private sector and emphasised that climate resilience would require collaboration beyond government institutions.
The engagement forms part of Lagos's wider climate and resilience discussions, with the stated focus remaining on practical partnerships, financing and protection of critical infrastructure.
