Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris is participating in Nigeria's delegation to the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, where state-level economic and investment opportunities are being presented alongside Nigeria's wider international engagements.
A Kebbi State government publication said Governor Nasir Idris is in New York as part of the Nigerian delegation to the 81st UN General Assembly, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The governor participated in a high-level briefing ahead of Nigeria's official engagements. The briefing, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and attended by senior officials, addressed Nigeria's participation, diplomatic engagements, meetings and commitments at the assembly.
The publication said Idris attended alongside governors from Kwara, Nasarawa, Rivers and Borno and senior federal government officials. The 81st General Assembly General Debate is scheduled for September 22 to 28, 2026.
According to the state publication, the governor's participation provides an opportunity for Kebbi to engage international stakeholders and explore partnerships and investment opportunities, particularly in solid minerals and other areas of economic development.
The delegation's participation therefore places Kebbi's investment and resource-development interests within the state's stated international engagement at the UN General Assembly during the September 2026 session.
