The Kebbi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris, has officially flagged off an intensive eight-day specialized medical and surgical outreach at the Kebbi Medical Centre located in Kalgo. The multi-sectoral public health intervention is designed to deliver free advanced clinical care, diagnostic screenings, and elective surgical operations to over 3,000 vulnerable and indigent citizens drawn from all 21 Local Government Areas.

The humanitarian outreach is organized in direct partnership with the Nasara Foundation and the World Association of Muslim Youths (WAMY), headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A multinational team comprising more than 25 specialist surgeons, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, and clinical nurses has been deployed to the Kalgo facility, equipped with advanced surgical consumables and pharmaceutical supplies fully funded by the state government and donor partners.

On the initial day of clinical operations, medical teams successfully evaluated hundreds of patients, performing 130 immediate surgical procedures for complex pathologies including advanced abdominal hernias, goiters, cataracts, pediatric malformations, and lymphatic tumors. All surgical interventions, post-operative medications, ward admissions, and laboratory diagnostics are being administered to beneficiaries completely free of out-of-pocket expenditure.

Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris on Religious Affairs, Imrana Ibn-Usman, directed Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers, and ward councilors to coordinate grassroots transportation networks to convey indigent patients requiring specialized treatment from remote rural hamlets to the Kalgo medical center. Community leaders praised the administration for eliminating catastrophic healthcare costs for low-income families.

The visiting international surgical delegation confirmed that operating theaters will run parallel shifts daily to achieve the target quota of 1,500 major surgical operations and 1,500 comprehensive medical consultations over the eight-day period. The state government reaffirmed that expanding healthcare access and upgrading secondary clinical infrastructure remain non-negotiable priorities of the Idris administration.
