The interactive session was held at GOSERC headquarters in Gombe and included representatives of the Groundnut Millers Association, Table Water Producers Association, COREN, ASUU, traditional institutions and other stakeholders.

Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources Sanusi Ahmad Maidalan Pindiga described the engagement as part of the state's wider electricity-sector development following the regulatory powers available to states under the Electricity Act 2023.

GOSERC Chairman Abba Arabi said the engagement was intended to familiarise stakeholders with the commission's mandate and obtain contributions towards developing a functional electricity regulatory framework.

Participants raised questions concerning electricity supply, regulation, consumer issues and the operations of Savannah Electricity Company. Commission officials provided responses and updates on its engagement with distribution companies and consumers.

The commission's legal affairs commissioner said stakeholder recommendations would be reviewed for possible implementation. The meeting therefore represents an early regulatory and consultation phase rather than evidence of completed changes to electricity supply.
