The Federal Capital Territory Administration says major road projects across urban and rural corridors are targeted for completion and commissioning by December 2026 following an inspection tour by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Wike inspected the Arterial Road N1 connecting Wuye to Ring Road 2, the Tunga Madaki-Zuba Road and a 5.6-kilometre rural road network covering Zaudna, Kabba and Kagini near Dei Dei. The rural corridor includes solar-powered street lighting systems, according to the FCT Administration.
The minister said he was satisfied with the pace and quality of construction but acknowledged that heavy rains had affected progress. He said earthworks were expected to intensify from the first week of October as rainfall subsides and expressed confidence that contractors would meet the December schedule.
The FCT Administration described the Zaudna-Kabba-Kagini road as a project intended to extend modern road infrastructure to communities outside the main urban corridors. Wike said improved road access would affect local economic activity, although the source does not provide measured economic outcomes from the project.
During the inspection, the minister also responded to public allegations concerning FCT borrowing and National Assembly approval. He rejected the allegations and said financing mechanisms used by the administration were incorporated into approved budgetary provisions and therefore subject to legislative authorisation.
The road projects remain under construction, with December 2026 identified by the FCT Administration as the target for completion and commissioning. The current status therefore remains one of active construction and monitoring rather than completed delivery.
