The Edo State Government is continuing the distribution of free fertilizer and other farm inputs to profiled farmers in Edo Central Senatorial District.
The distribution was taking place at the newly constructed Agricultural Warehouse in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area, with farmers from Igueben, Esan North-East, Esan West and Esan South-East invited to collect inputs.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, represented by the Director of Agricultural Services, said the intervention is intended to support food production and smallholder farmers.
The state reported distributing more than 1,200 bags of fertilizer, 70 cartons of Force Up chemical and 650 knapsack sprayers to profiled farmers.
Officials urged beneficiaries to use the inputs for agricultural production rather than sell them and encouraged farmers to prepare for dry-season farming and seek booster fertilizer doses where applicable.
Beneficiaries welcomed the distribution and asked that the initiative be sustained across Edo State. The source establishes the reported distribution quantities but does not provide independent verification of subsequent crop yields or food-security outcomes.
