According to an Adamawa State government publication, the Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Chief Geoffrey Garba, said the pilgrimage process began with funding approval, printing and distribution of forms, and collection of completed applications.

The Board formally requested approval from the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission to begin screening and received approval for the exercise scheduled for September 28, 29 and 30, 2026.

The screening will be conducted in batches of 220 intending pilgrims per day. The publication said the state government approved 500 pilgrims, while 120 pilgrims are sponsored by local governments, alongside self-sponsored participants and 24 intending pilgrims carried over from the 2025 operation.

The exercise will cover medical, security and physical fitness assessments among other requirements. Only intending pilgrims listed for a particular day will be attended to on that day, with schedules to be communicated through established platforms.

The Board also urged intending pilgrims who have not returned their completed forms to do so promptly and said the Nigeria Immigration Service, Adamawa State Command, was working toward the operational requirements for the 2026 pilgrimage.
